Scott Morgan - Inducted 2024



Scott Morgan is the most decorated male basketball player in Dakota Wesleyan University history. The 6-7 forward was voted the NAIA Division II National Player of the Year in 1992 and 1993. He scored 2,810 points in his career, averaging 25.8 points per game and 10.7 rebounds. In his junior season, Morgan led the nation in scoring, averaging 30.6 points per game, and was fourth in rebounding, averaging 12.8 per game. He is a two-time first-team All-American, four-time All-Conference South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference performer and was named the league’s MVP three times. In February of 1992, He scored a state record 57 points along with 17 rebounds against Mount Marty. Morgan was voted the South Dakota College Male Athlete of the Year in 1993.

In his high school career at Mitchell, Morgan led the Kernels to three State Class AA tournament appearances. He was a first-team AA All-State selection in his junior and senior seasons, averaging 21 points per game his senior year.

Morgan became only the fifth player in history to have his jersey, number ‘50’, retired at Dakota Wesleyan. He is a member of the Dakota Wesleyan, Mitchell High School, and South Dakota Basketball Halls of Fame. He is also a national NAIA Hall of Fame member, joining only two other DWU players, his sister Randi Morgan-Haines and the legendary South Dakota Sports Hall of Famer Gordie Fosness.
