Barb Felderman - Inducted 2019
Barb Felderman was a 1969 graduate of Doland High School and 1973 graduate of Northern State University. She was a member of the first NSU women's basketball, volleyball and track & field teams and went on to letter in field hockey as well.
Felderman was the first woman’s athlete to be inducted into the NSU Hall of Fame and became the first woman coach at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in 1981. She was Tech’s women’s basketball coach for 32 seasons from 1981-2013. Her teams went 474-397. Felderman led the Lady Hardrockers to 11 conference championships and nine NAIA appearances, including five Sweet 16 and two Final Four appearances (1998 and 1999). For 13 years at Tech, she coached both basketball and volleyball (seven conference titles), as well as men’s tennis (two national tournament appearances).
Felderman spent eight years coaching and teaching at Kadoka and Pierre High Schools and is a former assistant basketball and softball coach at the University of Wyoming. She served as head softball coach at Ball State prior to coming to Tech. Felderman, her teams and players won numerous national, regional and state awards. In 2013, Tech named its basketball court inside the King Center in honor of Felderman.
