Ed Livingston




Sioux Falls (Washington High). USD. One of the state's most famous basketball and football referees, Livingston refereed 15 consecutive state Class A basketball tournaments. In 1959, he became the first supervisor of officials for the North Central Conference. He was one of the state's pioneer golf enthusiasts and in 1929 became a golf pro. He worked at Irene and Vermillion before becoming pro at Elmwood in Sioux Falls for 14 years. He was the pro at Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls from 1944 until his death in 1964. A large number of Sioux Falls golfers, many of them state champions, got their start under Livingston. At WHS, he played on state championship basketball team in 1916. At USD, Livingston averaged 21.9 points a game for the 1918-19 team that won the state championship; he also starred in football at USD.
